No Guns for Marijuana Users; Connecticut Governor's Gun Violence Prevention Plan

On Thursday, Connecticut Governor Dan Malloy announced a list of five proposals that he wants the General Assembly in Connecticut to approve.  The actual five-page proposal can be viewed as a .pdf file here, but here is a quick list of the proposals.

  1. Make Background Checks Universal and Comprehensive
    1. Require Universal Background Checks
    2. Expand the List of Crimes that make an Individual Ineligible to Own a Gun
    3. Keep Background Checks Updated
    4. Expand Permitting Requirement to Firearms Other than Traditional Hunting and Sporting Rifles and Shotguns
    5. Institute Objective Uniform Standards
  2. Ban Large Capacity Magazines
  3. Strengthen the Ban on Military-Style Assault Weapons
  4. Safer Storage: Best Practices and Legal Requirements
    1. Strengthen Current Safe Storage Law
    2. Increase Awareness
  5. Improve Enforcement of Existing Laws
    1. Prioritize the Prosecution of Gun Related Crimes
    2. Report Illegal Activity
    3. Record Firearm and Ammunition Transfers

One interesting thing to note about these proposals is that, seemingly, if you were/are convicted of using marijuana, or have an alcohol-related arrest, the Governor believes you should be exempted from owning a gun.  Today, there is already a list of non-felony misdemeanors that make an individual ineligible for a firearm permit in Connecticut, including some marijuana convictions, but Governor Malloy doesn't think that's good enough.  The proposal reads, "Eligibility requirements should be expanded to exempt individuals that... convictions for use of a controlled substance or operating a vehicle under the influence of drugs or alcohol within the past five years."

Governor Malloy also held a press conference on Thursday, to take questions from the media.  A video of that press conference can be viewed here.

Highlights of the press conference include:

  • Governor Malloy was repeatedly questioned as to why he decided to release his proposals this week, when he set-up the "Sandy Hook Advisory Commission" in January, which was to eventually make legislative recommendations on safety, gun violence prevention and mental health, but only by the month of June, more than three months away.  The reporters were alluding to the criticism that the timing of the governor's release of his proposals were purely political, timed directly to Vice President Joe Biden's visit to Connecticut for a gun control conference, which the vice president attend Friday.   “It is clear that the governor wanted to be in front of the bi-partisan legislative committee studying these issues. It is clear he wants the headline to read ‘Malloy proposes gun control’ ahead of the Vice-President’s visit to Connecticut", said State Representative David Labriola.  Malloy's response to this criticism was to tell people "not to get overly involved" in the process he is taking to address gun control, and repeatedly blamed any criticism of him, on the NRA.
  • Dan Malloy also addressed his opposition to private gun sales, and his belief in a retroactive gun ban.
On Friday, Governor Malloy attended a Democratic Governors' Association meeting at the White House, where afterward he said mass shootings are becoming part of America's identity, and he seemed to be gloating about the level of gun control able to be accomplished in Connecticut.

"I think [Congress] will act. There'll be a package, I believe.  It probably won't go as far as we'll go in Connecticut.  These instances are going to continue to happen. We're going to have more of these mass shootings.  Aurora and Tucson and Sandy Hook weren't aberrations.  They're becoming part of who we are, and what we are, and what we expect to happen in our states.  It's got to change, it may take Congress a little longer than it will take the people of Connecticut." - Governor Dan Malloy

Other interesting (tyrannical) things to note about the Governors five-page proposal:

  • "Under this proposal, private sellers may only transfer a firearm if the buyer produces proof of a federal background check, which can be obtained at a federal firearm dealer. Additionally, all private transfers of firearms should be recorded with law enforcement."
  • "Individuals who lawfully purchased these firearms before the date of enactment should
have until October 1, 2013 to register their firearms with the state police and be granted
a certificate of possession and obtain a permit"
  • "The assault weapon ban should exempt law enforcement officers, correction officials, and military
and naval personnel discharging their official duties."

U.S. Rep. Elizabeth Esty Gets Cold, Un-Welcoming Reception At Her First Town Hall Meeting, Addressing Gun Control

Elizabeth Esty, U.S. Representative for Connecticut's 5th congressional district

U.S. Rep. Elizabeth Esty, representing Connecticut's 5th district, held her first town hall meeting Thursday night, at Rotella Magnet School in Waterbury.  She focused on gun violence prevention and recent recommendations from the Congressional Gun Violence Prevention Task Force.  I attended this event, and this is my first-person account of the evening.

If I had to guess, there was about 250-300 people in attendance, and to my surprise, the vast majority (maybe 95%) of the crowd seemed to be PRO-gun, ANTI-gun-control.  Elizabeth Esty is a Democrat, a member of the Congressional Gun Violence Prevention Task Force, and has "played in an instrumental role in developing the group's call for a federal assault weapons ban and universal background checks."  As you can imagine, Esty did NOT receive a warm welcome.

As soon as the floor was opened for questions, a sea of hands were raised, with loads of people all wanting their chance to voice their opinion, criticisms, and/or questions, to the congresswoman.  There was only a couple of people that stood-up to speak, in support of Elizabeth Esty, and her plans to 'prevent gun violence', the rest were against any further 'gun control' efforts.

One man, an opponent of gun control, requested that Rep. Esty look into the crime statistics of other countries that banned guns, implying that those countries crime rates soared, as a result of the ban.  Another man, a father of a young child, stood up to speak out against politicians, like Esty, who view these tragic events as 'opportunities', to push their agenda.

Jim Russel, of We Are Change CT, bringing up "Fast and Furious" at Gun Control debate

A major highlight of the event was when the topic of the discussion switched to "gun trafficking", and Jim Russel, of We Are Change CT, stood up to inform the congresswoman he was fully aware of the illegal federal government gun-trafficking program, known as Fast and Furious, which supplied weapons to Mexican drug cartels.  (video above)  This, like many of the pro-liberty, anti-tyranny speeches throughout the night, was well received.  Another patriot of We Are Change CT, Tevin, defended the second amendment, and posed thought-provoking statements, and questions, to Esty, that ultimately went unanswered. (video below)

Congresswoman Esty has been exploiting the tragedy in Newtown to push her anti-liberty agenda.  Recently, Esty likened the shooting in Newtown, to the events that took place on September 11, 2001, in hopes of using the emotional anguish evoked by the latter tragedy to pull on the heart strings of her constituents.  Esty even created gun-control Valentine cards, to give out to every member of Congress.  The congresswoman had home-made Valentine's Day cards, and teddy bears, delivered to all 435 House members and 100 senators. The T-shirts on the stuffed bears carried the message: “Protect children, not guns.’’

Elizabeth Esty, like most politicians, is a lawyer, and has degrees from both, Harvard, and Yale.  Judging from her wikipedia profile, she has worked in the public sector, sucking the blood of tax-payers, for the majority of her working life.  She was first a state representative, and then was elected last November to her current position of U.S. Representative.

Esty is "pro-choice", and volunteered at Planned Parenthood in her college years.  I can't get past the hypocrisy of this woman, who says she wants gun-control to protect the children, but supports, and volunteers her time at, an organization, Planned Parenthood, that murders 330,000 babies every year, through abortion.

Elizabeth Esty's husband, Daniel C. Esty, also graduated from Harvard, and Yale, as well as studied as a Rhodes Scholar at the University of Oxford.  Daniel C. Esty is the Commissioner of the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP).  In April 2011 Daniel Esty co-authored an op-ed for the New York Times entitled "Pain at the Pump. We need more". The article advocated higher carbon taxes so as to accelerate technological change.

Both Elizabeth Esty, and her husband, have come from elite, ivy league educational backgrounds, Dan Esty even being awarded a Rhodes scholarship.  Dan Esty also has ties to the Obama administration, as well as having pushed for carbon taxes in the past.  Congresswoman Esty, and her husband, seem to be just another couple of elite, control-freak, psychopaths, looking to get more power and control over the people.

(Sidenote:  Interestingly, after the Newtown shooting, Elizabeth Esty put out a document titled "Tragedy and Hope", and the conspiracy-oriented part of me couldn't help but think about the book "Tragedy and Hope" written by Historian Professor Carroll Quigley, which has attracted the attention of conspiracy theorists due to suggestions in numerous places in the book that a secret society known as the Round Table has had considerable influence of the policies of the British and American governments over the course of the first half of the twentieth century.  It is probably just coincidence that Esty used that title, but then again, her husband IS a Rhodes Scholar.)

President Obama's 23 Executive Actions; Federal Spy Doctors, Forced Medication & Involuntary Commitment

On Wednesday, President Obama announced the creation of 23 'executive actions' pertaining to 'gun violence reduction', in response to the Sandy Hook school shooting.  He even brought children on stage with him, high-fived, and hugged the kids before signing the actions, which to some, resembled tyrants in the past who used children as props in their propaganda campaigns.

There was talk in the media of a possible federal ban on certain types of assault rifles, and/or ammunition, however none of the twenty-three executive actions call for a physical ban of anything.  There are orders dealing with background checks, information evaluation, new federal programs, and even five orders dealing with 'health care', in relation to gun violence.

Surely these orders will make it slightly more difficult for some Americans, in the future, to obtain firearm protection, but, in my opinion, the main purpose of these executive orders is to further the federal governments involvement into your life through the health care system.

Of the twenty three executive orders, the one that seems the most disturbing to me is number sixteen, which states, "Clarify that the Affordable Care Act does not prohibit doctors asking their patients about guns in their homes."  There was already concern that the Affordable Care Act intruded on doctor/patient confidentiality, and this new executive order furthers those concerns. Essentially, the federal government will spy on you through your medical doctor.  Last month, I reported on a federal program to also turn your local religious leaders (priests, pastors, reverends, etc.), into spies for the federal government.

I believe these executive orders are an indication on how the interests that control Barack Obama, plan to handle their opposition.  Instead of direct bans or restrictions on liberties, you could be labeled with a 'mental illness', and from there, your liberties restricted.

Government Works With Hollywood To Brainwash You

In the most recent case of Hollywood being used to directly influence your thinking on a particular issue, a new commercial shows famous television and movie actors, like Jamie Foxx, Selena Gomez, Chris Rock, and more, saying we all need to talk to our 'leaders' and 'demand a plan' to address gun violence, which I would presume to mean gun control.  A parody of this video has been made, showing the hypocrisy of these actors. (video below)  If they think guns and gun violence is so bad, why do they play in movies that use so much of it?

Hollywood has been used to push political agendas before, and the use of movies and television programs, by government, to push certain views onto the viewer is NOT secret.  There have been several documentaries showing the relationship between the pentagon and Hollywood.  Many movies that now include the use of the US Military, in any fashion, need to be first approved by the U.S. Pentagon.  Some movies, like Top Gun, starring Tom Cruise, are used as a recruitment method to the military.  Here are a couple good documentaries on the subject.

Empire : Hollywood and the war machine: "Empire examines the symbiotic relationship between the movie industry and the military-industrial complex."

Operation Hollywood: How The Pentagon Shapes And Censors The Movies - "Have your favorite movies been censored or meddled with by the Pentagon?"

The website, Hollywood Reporter, ran a story on November 11, 2012, titled "Obama's Hollywood Organizers Reveal Winning Strategy That Helped Tip Election", that covers the re-election of Obama, and how actors, musicians, celebrities, etc., were used in an elaborate strategy to influence your vote.

The propaganda is everywhere, look for it.

'Gun Owners of America' Is The Leading Organization Supporting the 2nd Amendment in Washington, Not The NRA

After the shooting in Newtown, CT, the NRA, National Rifle Association, released a statement saying "The NRA is prepared to offer meaningful contributions to help make sure this never happens again."  The NRA plans to hold a major news conference on Friday, December 21, and maybe we can learn exactly what they mean by that statement.

The NRA presents itself as one of the leading voices in Washington, fighting infringements on the 2nd amendment, with over 4 million members registered with the organization.  There are some gun-rights advocates that believe the NRA is a fraud, and the organization has been co-opted by the Washington establishment, now giving you the illusion that they are fighting for your 2nd amendment right, but instead having hidden agendas, like doing anything to increase their revenues, which in 2010, reached $228 million.

One gun-rights organization that never seems to compromise is 'Gun Owners of America', an organization that has, in the past, publicly criticized the NRA for 'selling out'.  After the CT shooting, many politicians began calling for gun control legislation, but the NRA has remained silent.  The executive director of Gun Owners of America, Larry Pratt, on the other hand, has chosen to come out and publicly defend the 2nd amendment, with as much zeal as ever.  In a video that is now going viral, Larry Pratt went on the Piers Morgan show on CNN, and completely embarrassed Morgan in a debate, to the point that Morgan resorted to name calling.  (video below)

Newtown, CT School Shooting: Medication, Tragedy, Truth, & Conspiracy

As has been widely reported, on Friday, December 14, a gunman opened fire at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, killing 26 people, including 20 children.  The story has been everywhere, and here at The Goodman Chronicle, I do not write a story if it is just a regurgitation of what has already been reported, so instead of give you a timeline of events, I will cover the story in a way the media is NOT covering it.  I sincerely offer my deepest condolences to everyone involved in this horrible tragedy, made many times worse due to the fact so many young innocent children were involved.

Medication

When friends and neighbors of the shooter, 20 year old Adam Lanza, and his family were interviewed, they recalled Adam as being a genius, and very bright, but "odd", displaying characteristics associated with mental illness, suffering from a personality disorder, needing special help, and being on medication.

This is what I believe the real story behind the shooter should be about, what it was that drove him to this point.  There have been several violent homicide cases in recent American history, that have made the American people cringe in horror at the level of cruelty.  Nearly all these cases had one common denominator; psychiatric drugs.  The website, SSRI Stories, documents numerous violent crimes, and their association with prescription drugs.  Columbine shooter Eric Harris was prescribed Luvox, an antidepressant medication. Andrea Yates, the woman from Texas who drowned her five children in the bathtub, was prescribed multiple psychiatric drugs, including the antidepressant Effexor, which added "homicidal ideation" to the warning label of the drug, after the Yates case.  I can keep going on, but there is a documentary titled, "The Common Denominator - Mass Murder Suicides - Prescription Drugs", that has already done a great job connecting the mass murders of recent past, to prescription drugs, that I suggest everyone watch. (video below)

Why are you not hearing about the prescription drug influence in all of these shootings?  Maybe because so many of the commercials in between television shows and news reports are for prescription drugs.
