No Guns for Marijuana Users; Connecticut Governor's Gun Violence Prevention Plan

On Thursday, Connecticut Governor Dan Malloy announced a list of five proposals that he wants the General Assembly in Connecticut to approve.  The actual five-page proposal can be viewed as a .pdf file here, but here is a quick list of the proposals.

  1. Make Background Checks Universal and Comprehensive
    1. Require Universal Background Checks
    2. Expand the List of Crimes that make an Individual Ineligible to Own a Gun
    3. Keep Background Checks Updated
    4. Expand Permitting Requirement to Firearms Other than Traditional Hunting and Sporting Rifles and Shotguns
    5. Institute Objective Uniform Standards
  2. Ban Large Capacity Magazines
  3. Strengthen the Ban on Military-Style Assault Weapons
  4. Safer Storage: Best Practices and Legal Requirements
    1. Strengthen Current Safe Storage Law
    2. Increase Awareness
  5. Improve Enforcement of Existing Laws
    1. Prioritize the Prosecution of Gun Related Crimes
    2. Report Illegal Activity
    3. Record Firearm and Ammunition Transfers

One interesting thing to note about these proposals is that, seemingly, if you were/are convicted of using marijuana, or have an alcohol-related arrest, the Governor believes you should be exempted from owning a gun.  Today, there is already a list of non-felony misdemeanors that make an individual ineligible for a firearm permit in Connecticut, including some marijuana convictions, but Governor Malloy doesn't think that's good enough.  The proposal reads, "Eligibility requirements should be expanded to exempt individuals that... convictions for use of a controlled substance or operating a vehicle under the influence of drugs or alcohol within the past five years."

Governor Malloy also held a press conference on Thursday, to take questions from the media.  A video of that press conference can be viewed here.

Highlights of the press conference include:

  • Governor Malloy was repeatedly questioned as to why he decided to release his proposals this week, when he set-up the "Sandy Hook Advisory Commission" in January, which was to eventually make legislative recommendations on safety, gun violence prevention and mental health, but only by the month of June, more than three months away.  The reporters were alluding to the criticism that the timing of the governor's release of his proposals were purely political, timed directly to Vice President Joe Biden's visit to Connecticut for a gun control conference, which the vice president attend Friday.   “It is clear that the governor wanted to be in front of the bi-partisan legislative committee studying these issues. It is clear he wants the headline to read ‘Malloy proposes gun control’ ahead of the Vice-President’s visit to Connecticut", said State Representative David Labriola.  Malloy's response to this criticism was to tell people "not to get overly involved" in the process he is taking to address gun control, and repeatedly blamed any criticism of him, on the NRA.
  • Dan Malloy also addressed his opposition to private gun sales, and his belief in a retroactive gun ban.
On Friday, Governor Malloy attended a Democratic Governors' Association meeting at the White House, where afterward he said mass shootings are becoming part of America's identity, and he seemed to be gloating about the level of gun control able to be accomplished in Connecticut.

"I think [Congress] will act. There'll be a package, I believe.  It probably won't go as far as we'll go in Connecticut.  These instances are going to continue to happen. We're going to have more of these mass shootings.  Aurora and Tucson and Sandy Hook weren't aberrations.  They're becoming part of who we are, and what we are, and what we expect to happen in our states.  It's got to change, it may take Congress a little longer than it will take the people of Connecticut." - Governor Dan Malloy

Other interesting (tyrannical) things to note about the Governors five-page proposal:

  • "Under this proposal, private sellers may only transfer a firearm if the buyer produces proof of a federal background check, which can be obtained at a federal firearm dealer. Additionally, all private transfers of firearms should be recorded with law enforcement."
  • "Individuals who lawfully purchased these firearms before the date of enactment should
have until October 1, 2013 to register their firearms with the state police and be granted
a certificate of possession and obtain a permit"
  • "The assault weapon ban should exempt law enforcement officers, correction officials, and military
and naval personnel discharging their official duties."

UPDATE: Drug-Addicted CT State Trooper Caught On Dash Cam Taking Money From Dead Man

Aaron Huntsman

The arrest warrant has been released in the case of the Connecticut State Trooper stealing money and jewelry from a dead victim of a motorcycle accident.

Connecticut State Trooper Aaron Huntsman is caught on his dash cam video, taking the money of the deceased motorcycle accident victim.  Huntsman also has checked himself into a two-week drug rehabilitation facility, for pain medication.

The arrest warrant alleges, "on 09-22-12 while investigating a fatal accident on Rte 15 in Fairfield, TFC Huntsman knowingly took a large amount of cash that was handed to him by a Fairfield Firefighter while on scene standing at the rear of the ambulance. TFC Huntsman is heard on his cruiser's camera saying that he would take it as evidence. Once TFC Huntsman has the cash in his possession, he is seen walking directly back to his cruiser and gets in the driver's side. TFC Huntsman is contacted on numerous occasions by the deceased's father inquiring about missing money to which TFC Huntsman repeatedly states he didn't see or take money and that it must have gone with the ambulance personnel. When TFC Huntsman is questioned by State Police Supervisors about missing property and money, Huntsman tells them that he actually seized a gold chain belonging to the deceased which was still in his cruiser; however, Huntsman makes no mention of having the gold chain when questioned by the deceased's father about missing property or money the night after the accident. Huntsman tells his supervisors on numerous occasions that he never sees or takes money while at the scene. Throughout the investigation, TF Huntsman tells investigators that he never saw-money or took money while on scene."

Attorney Ment, representing the accused officer, also stated that "Huntsman had checked himself into a substance abuse program and would be there approximately for two weeks...a pain medication type program"

Private Prison Company Used in Drug Raids at Public High School

According to a report by CommonDreams.org, on October 31, 2012, employees of Corrections Corporation of America were used in drug sweeps of public school students in Arizona.

Corrections Corporation of America (CCA) is the largest for-profit, prison detention center operator.  They make a profit, off of inmates.  There has been much controversy over the governments use of private prisons, including a recent story where 8 inmates filed a lawsuit against CCA for letting gangs control their Idaho Correctional Center, in an effort to save money.

In a related story, the owners of two private, for-profit juvenile facilities, in Pennsylvania, were giving kickbacks to a judge, Mark Ciavarella, for sentencing children to extended stays in juvenile detention for offenses as minimal as mocking a principal on Myspace or trespassing in a vacant building.  This scandal became known as "kids-for-cash".

It now looks as if CCA will begin hunting children directly at school.  It's a great business model, if you're a psychopath.

Montana Man Faces Minimum of 80 Years In Prison For Legally Growing Medical Marijuana

(7 Minute NY Times Documentary on Chris Williams and Marijuana)

The NY Times reports, "Chris Williams opened a marijuana grow house in Montana after the state legalized medical cannabis. Mr. Williams was eventually arrested by federal agents despite Montana’s medical marijuana law, and he may spend the rest of his life behind bars. "

This man got convicted and is facing a minimum of 80 years in prison, and he has not hurt anybody. In a recent comparison, Jerry Sandusky, who ruined the lives of many children, had a minimum sentence of 30 years.

As I previously discussed, though the majority of Americans support medical marijuana, the federal government is not respecting state laws, thus not respecting the will of the people.

Who are these people that want to keep marijuana from the people?  The same people that approve deadly prescription medicines. The war on drugs is unjust. Lets stop it.  The American justice system is unjust.  Lets change it.

Colorado Legalizes Marijuana, Obama Doesn't Approve

On Tuesday night, Amendment 64, the measure seeking the legalization of marijuana for recreational use by adults, was passed by Colorado voters, making Colorado the first state to end marijuana prohibition in the United States.  This amendment offered an even less restricted marijuana regulation than California, which previously legalized marijuana for medicinal uses.

The people voted, the amendment passed, seems like a great day for democracy, right ?  Wrong!  While the majority of people in America favor legalization of medical marijuana, the tyrannical federal government does not care how the people feel, they are doing what is in their personal interests.

Former Waterbury Police Seargent Only Gets Three Years Probation After Several of His Guns Were Used In Various Street Crimes

In 2009, Waterbury Police Sergeant, Harold David Setzer, was arrested after five handguns, registered to him, were used in various shootings in New Haven.  When he was confronted and questioned by police he gave one questionable story and then a short time after, came with a different story when he had his 15 year old son, make up a lie, and say one of his friends stole the guns.  When police concluded that this was a lie, they raided his house, and found illegal weapons, as well as an "improvised explosive device".  On Friday, October 26, 2012, at his arraignment, Setzer avoided jail time, and only received three years probation!  He also said he had hoped he could remain a police sergeant “so I could take care of my family.”

(Harold David Setzer, on left, poses after a drug seizure in 2003.)

This is just another example of the hypocrisy of this justice system.  Harold David Setzer was one of these drug detectives, as seen in this picture above, holding a bag of money that he seized in a drug raid.  These people will raid your house in the early morning, drag your children out of bed with guns to their heads, and even will shoot your dog in the head if it's barking, if they believe you have something as harmless as marijuana in your house.  Meanwhile they get caught involved in all types of criminal activity.

We need to end this drug war, and stop the idea that the government should be regulating what we do to ourselves and our own bodies.  We also need to stop allowing the police, and all government, to be above the laws that they create.  We need liberty.

More Evidence Of The US Military Involved In Heroin Trade In Afghanistan

Ever since the Taliban were removed from power in Afghanistan, by the United States, opium production, which is used to make heroin, has increased dramatically.  Today, 87% of the worlds heroin comes from Afghanistan.  Since the United States military is in control of much of Afghanistan, there has been speculation that the US military is involved in the heroin trade.  This speculation was confirmed when Geraldo Rivera of Fox News did a special report from Afghanistan, where he interviewed Lt. Brian Christmas, and they spoke about how the marines are "guarding" the opium fields.  Of course they wouldn't admit on television that they are drug dealing, so they say that they are "guarding" the opium fields from Al-Qaeda.  This week I found more pictures confirming the involvement of the US military and opium production.

For more pictures showing the Opium and US Military connection, go here.

Here is the video of Geraldo Rivera in Afghanistan, covering up the US involvement in opium production.

Police Raid Wrong House, Kill 61 Year Old Man.

Police perform a "drug" raid on the wrong house, and shoot and kill a 61 year old man, and handcuff his 70 year old wife. This is completely avoidable, if people stop being scared slaves, and begin standing up to their government. You are a human being, there is no reason that another human being should raid your house with a black mask on, because they believe you are hurting yourself with "drugs". The drug war is an excuse to take your rights.
Prescription drugs kill way more people than illegal drugs, why aren't they raiding doctors offices ?
