Connecticut Military Veteran Forcefully Disarmed By Police After Refusing Psychiatric Evaluation

It has been more than a month since local police came into the home, and confiscated the guns of fifty-year-old Navy veteran, Dave Schmecker.  Schmecker, when recalling that particular day, still can't seem to make sense of it all.

"I posed no threat to anyone", says the Navy Veteran, who lives alone, and doesn't have a wife, or children.  Schmecker continued, "I have no psychiatric history, or criminal past."

Jeff Durkin, of We Are Change CT, and myself, went to the home of Dave Schmecker, in Naugatuck, CT, to get the story straight from the military veteran, in his own words, and capture Dave's story on video. (video above)

According to Schmecker, it all started about six months ago when he called the VA hospital to request a check on his spine, which has been giving him pain for some time.  Schmecker was assuming he would be allowed to see a pain management specialist.  When the hospital called the veteran back, they informed him that if he wanted to see a pain management specialist, he would first have to see a psychologist for one half-hour, and a psychiatrist for one half-hour.  Schmecker refused.

"Why should I have to see a psychiatrist, and a psychologist, for a back pain?", asks Schmecker.  Several months went by, and Schmecker never heard back from the VA.

Fast forward to February 5th, Schmecker was having a conversation, over the telephone with his friend, and it was decided that the two should meet.  When the two friends met, they decided to attend a church, and maybe talk to a priest, for spiritual guidance.  They visited a church, at random, in West Haven, which to Dave's later surprise was 'a stones throw away' from the VA hospital of West Haven.  Dave had a private conversation with the priest, assuming their conversation would be kept private, and then left.

When Schmecker arrived back to his home in Naugatuck, CT, he noticed a missed called from the local police department.  When he called the police department back, and asked what they had called about, he was told that his primary care physician had called the police to perform a "wellness check" on Dave, because of a peculiar message that the doctor heard on Schmecker's answering machine.

Before Schmecker left his home, earlier in the day, to meet up with his friend to attend church, not having a cell phone, he changed his answering machine message, and directed it to his friend, with whom he was just having a conversation with, just in case his friend called, after Schmecker had already left.

What did the answering machine message say?  Well, according to Schmecker, the message was:

"I feel like it's poisonous staying in my house.  I feel like Co-Intel-Pro is after me.  I'm running."
Dave Schmecker insists "there was nothing in that message that was threatening to myself, or anyone else."  Schmecker also believes that the answering machine message was just used as an excuse, and it didn't matter what the message said, the police were coming.  I, Goodman, believe as Dave does, that the message doesn't seem to be of any significance in this ordeal, because, in my opinion, there is nothing in this message to cause alarm, and, also, I post worse things than that on my Facebook page, everyday.

Schmecker decided to go down to the police station and "clear this all up".  Schmecker was waiting in the lobby at the police station, and nobody came to see him.  The Navy veteran then decided to leave.  Schmecker called the police station and told them that he was waiting, nobody came, and that he left.  The police official responded that the police were called away, but they still need to perform a wellness check on Dave, so they were going to drive up to his house.  Schmecker told the police that he did not want the stigma of having police in front of his house, where the neighbors would see, so he would meet them at the end of the street.

In his truck, Dave was now waiting at the end of the street for the police.  When the police show up, they commandeered his vehicle, and told him he wasn't going anywhere.  The police then informed the fifty-year old veteran that he was going to let them in his house, give them his weapons, and he was being forced to go a psychiatric evaluation.  Schmecker was told forcefully, by the police, that "you must let us in", and "if you don't open the safe, we'll bust it open".  The veteran was also led to believe that the police had a risk warrant, but later found out that they did not have a warrant.

Schmecker says he submitted to the police requests under "duress".  "I live alone, I have no witnesses, if I did try to resist", says Schmecker.

The police, who Schmecker described as looking like "thugs with guns", performed a thorough search of his home, inspecting everything, rummaging through Dave's safe, taking his three guns, and sending him away in an ambulance to a psychiatric ward for three days.

The time spent in the psychiatric ward was an extremely traumatic experience.  Being stuck with needles, given pills, and getting his blood pressure checked every half-hour, Schmecker says he felt he had to submit to this treatment because other patients in the ward were telling him "you better be cool here, or you'll end up in a patted room".

After 72 hours inside of the psych ward, Schmecker was released, and began trying to make sense of the event.  He called his doctor and asked him why he called his house that day.  According to Schmecker, the VA told him they called his house "because you hadn't renewed your medication", though they never did this before, and he has let his medications lapse in the past.  On top of that, according to Schmecker, his medications did not need to be renewed.

Dave Schmecker now believes that the priest that he confided in, at the church in West Haven, called the VA hospital in West Haven, to report on Schmecker, who in turn, called his doctor at the VA of Waterbury.  This would not be surprising to me, as I have reported in the past, on my experiences with learning of religious leaders in Waterbury, secretly working with the federal government.

So far this event has cost Dave Schmecker several thousands of dollars in bills from the hospital stay, the EMS ride, and more, plus an unmeasurable amount of emotional turmoil.  This experience "has literally devastated me," says Schmecker.

The Fight To Label Genetically Engineered Food (GMOs) Taking Place In Connecticut Legislature

Genetic Roulette, documentary about GMOs, movie trailer

There are two bills circulating in Connecticut, in this years legislature, concerning the labeling of genetically modified foods, House Bill 6519, AN ACT CONCERNING THE LABELING OF GENETICALLY ENGINEERED FOOD, sponsored by Representative Phil Miller, and House Bill 6527AN ACT CONCERNING GENETICALLY ENGINEERED BABY FOOD, introduced by Representative Diana Urban.  These bills would require the labeling of any food, infant formula, or baby food, that contains genetically engineered materials, with "the clear and conspicuous words: "Produced with Genetic Engineering"".

A similar bill was almost passed in last years legislative session, but was "eviscerated by lawyers", working for the state, who some believe, including Rep. Richard Roy, the original sponsor of the bill, were protecting the interests of the GMO manufacturing giant, Monsanto.  (Sidenote: The excuse gave by the state Department of Agriculture, for opposing the legislation, was that it would put Connecticut at a competitive disadvantage with other states that do not regulate labeling.)

The public awareness of the GMO issue, in my opinion, seems to be growing.  There is a push in Connecticut, by many grass roots organizations, like GMO Free CT, to get these two bills passed, and spread awareness of what GMO's are, and the dangers they may pose.  Free screenings of a new documentary about GMOs, Genetic Roulette (trailer at the top of the page), have been taking place all around Connecticut.  We Are Change CT caught up with one of the organizers of these events (video below), Beth Beisel, to talk about the two bills in circulation, genetically modified foods, how people can help this cause, and more.

Jeff Durkin, of We Are Change CT, interviews Beth Beisel, of GMO Free CT

There are a number of representatives co-sponsoring these two pieces of legislation, the list includes:

If you support the labeling of GMO foods, and want to make your voice heard in this debate, you can find out who your local representative is, contact them, and let them know you would like them to be in support of these two bills.  A few phone calls, or e-mails, to a local representative make a difference.  Also, the public hearing for HB 6519 will be held on Friday, March 15th, in front of the Public Health Committee.  The hearing is beginning at 10:30 AM at the Legislative Office Building, 300 Capitol Avenue, Hartford, CT.  Showing up at this hearing, and voicing your opinion, will make a difference.  The organization, GMO Free CT, will have "Right To Know GMO" pins for everyone to wear, at this hearing.

Pushing for more government intervention into the free-market, as this bill seemingly is doing, is the antithesis of my usual libertarian leaning political views, however, because food is already required to be labeled with ingredients, nutritional facts, etc., I believe it is only right that this requirement include a label on items containing these potentially dangerous materials, known as GMOs.

One potential problem that I do see arising from these bills is the effect it may have on a small business, who may not be sure they are using GMOs in their product, and get a large fine as a result.  However, after reading through the bills, I came across one section in House Bill 6527, that provides protection to a small business owner, ignorant of the GMO issue:
 (1) such infant formula or baby food shall not be considered misbranded if it is produced by a person who (A) was without knowledge that such infant formula or baby food was created with materials that were partially or entirely produced with genetic engineering, and (B) obtains a sworn statement from the party that sold such materials to such person that such materials have not been knowingly genetically engineered and have not been knowingly commingled with any genetically engineered materials
There have been past reports on the dangers of genetically modified food ingredients, like Aspartame, which has been linked to diseases like Leukemia and Lymphoma, and scientifically manipulated sweeteners, like High Fructose Corn Syrup, which has been linked to obesity.  Pepsi even plans to begin using an artificial sweetener, made utilizing kidney cells from an aborted baby, in their products.  Even growing genetically modified organisms can be dangerous.  Farmers in India are blaming the genetically modified BT cotton seed for rashes, itching, and dead cattle.

Some people believe that eating Organic food, free of GMO and pesticides, is all hype, and there is no benefit, but the elite of this country, and world, think otherwise.  In my article, While You Eat Poison, The Elite Eat Organic, I point out that a big secret among the extremely wealthy elite of this world, is that many of them only eat Organic food.  The British Royal family, The Clintons, Bush's, Obama's, The Chinese Communist Party Leadership, and much more, prefer, and sometimes only eat, organic.

**UPDATE**:  Breaking News! Connecticut passes GE Labeling Bill for Baby Foods out of committee! Today the Committee on Children voted 11 to 1 in favor of House Bill 6527, An Act Concerning Genetically Engineered Baby Food, that would require the labeling of foods fed to infants that contain genetically engineered ingredients.  Representative Whitt Betts was the only member of the Committee on Children to vote "nay".

Know Your Reps! CT State Senator Joe Markley Wants Fluoride Out Of The Water, and A Ban On Mandatory Flu Shots

State Senator Joe Markley
Representing the communities of Cheshire, Southington, Wolcott, and Waterbury, State Senator Joe Markley (R-16th) has, in my opinion, one of the best records of any representative in Hartford.  Markley has a history of supporting liberty, even helping to organize a protest against the creation of the state income tax in 1991, that drew 40,000 people to the State Capitol.

Elected in 2010, winning re-election in 2012, and having served one term in the mid 80's, Markley is currently in his third term as a State Senator.  The Tea Party movement is credited with helping Markley get back into office.  The CTMirror lists Markley's occupation as a writer, and reports, "When recruited by Tea Party activists, Markley said, he was living cheaply at a friend's apartment in western Massachusetts, working on a novel "about what I think is wrong with society."

Senator Markley has stood in opposition to many of the, in my opinion, tyrannical, anti-liberty actions being undertaken by the state.  For instance, he has been one of the strongest critics of the New Britain-Hartford busway, also known as the CTFastrak, which I have written about, connecting the busway to United Nations Agenda 21, a plan to lower the standard of living in America.

Markley has also criticized Senator Gary Lebeau for his constant advocacy for big government, as well as Lebeau's involvement in the state income tax, and Lebeau's helping "push through the largest tax increase in state history."  I have also criticized Senator Gary Lebeau, in the past, for his involvement in trying to bring red light cameras to the state, as well as his overall belief that he has a "significant role", as a legislator, to "change the culture" of people, and their belief about things like guns, or the way they care for their children.

When Connecticut Governor Dan Malloy announced, last month, his list of five proposals, in regards to gun control, he was criticized for trying to exploit the school shooting in Newtown, to push his own agenda.  Senator Markley was among those critical of the governor. "There’s no reason to rush proposals unless there was an intent to push stricter gun control legislation from the start", Markley said, as well as implying the governor rushed his proposals because he felt the support for gun control was waning.

Even more promising are the list of bills proposed by Senator Markley for the 2013 session of the Connecticut legislature.  Among them include:

  • Getting fluoride out of the water supply - Senate Bill 131AN ACT ELIMINATING THE REQUIREMENT TO ADD FLUORIDE TO PUBLIC WATER SUPPLIES.
  • Making sure employers can't require employees receive a flu shot - Senate Bill 55AN ACT PROHIBITING EMPLOYERS FROM REQUIRING EMPLOYEES TO RECEIVE MANDATORY FLU SHOTS.
  • Stopping banks from charging a fee for check cashing - Senate Bill 107AN ACT PROHIBITING BANKS FROM CHARGING A FEE FOR CHECK CASHING.
  • Eliminating government agencies/Reducing the size of government - Senate Bill 113 & Senate Bill 258 - AN ACT CONCERNING THE ELIMINATION OF A CENTRALIZED OFFICE OF PUBLIC HIGHER EDUCATION AN ACT ELIMINATING THE COMMISSION ON HUMAN RIGHTS AND OPPORTUNITIES.

The issue of marijuana legalization, and ending the war on drugs, is an important aspect for many in the fight for liberty, including myself, however I do not believe Senator Joe Markley feels the same.  Last year he voted "NAY" against a medical marijuana bill,  AN ACT CONCERNING THE PALLIATIVE USE OF MARIJUANA, that was eventually passed and signed by the governor.  I have not seen, or heard, any comments from Joe Markley, regarding marijuana, or the war on drugs, so I can't make any definitive statements on his views towards these subjects, however it would be disappointing if we found out that Senator Markley only embraces liberty in select areas, and not in its entirety.

Here is an interview of State Senator Joe Markley, conducted last month, by the good folks at We Are Change CT, concerning Markleys proposed bill dealing with the elimination of water fluoridation in the state.

Let us hope that Senator Markley continues to be a voice for liberty, pushing for less government.  We have to support people that share our beliefs, in hopes that it will encourage more people to come out, and speak up.  Either way, I'll be watching, and reporting.

U.S. Rep. Elizabeth Esty Gets Cold, Un-Welcoming Reception At Her First Town Hall Meeting, Addressing Gun Control

Elizabeth Esty, U.S. Representative for Connecticut's 5th congressional district

U.S. Rep. Elizabeth Esty, representing Connecticut's 5th district, held her first town hall meeting Thursday night, at Rotella Magnet School in Waterbury.  She focused on gun violence prevention and recent recommendations from the Congressional Gun Violence Prevention Task Force.  I attended this event, and this is my first-person account of the evening.

If I had to guess, there was about 250-300 people in attendance, and to my surprise, the vast majority (maybe 95%) of the crowd seemed to be PRO-gun, ANTI-gun-control.  Elizabeth Esty is a Democrat, a member of the Congressional Gun Violence Prevention Task Force, and has "played in an instrumental role in developing the group's call for a federal assault weapons ban and universal background checks."  As you can imagine, Esty did NOT receive a warm welcome.

As soon as the floor was opened for questions, a sea of hands were raised, with loads of people all wanting their chance to voice their opinion, criticisms, and/or questions, to the congresswoman.  There was only a couple of people that stood-up to speak, in support of Elizabeth Esty, and her plans to 'prevent gun violence', the rest were against any further 'gun control' efforts.

One man, an opponent of gun control, requested that Rep. Esty look into the crime statistics of other countries that banned guns, implying that those countries crime rates soared, as a result of the ban.  Another man, a father of a young child, stood up to speak out against politicians, like Esty, who view these tragic events as 'opportunities', to push their agenda.

Jim Russel, of We Are Change CT, bringing up "Fast and Furious" at Gun Control debate

A major highlight of the event was when the topic of the discussion switched to "gun trafficking", and Jim Russel, of We Are Change CT, stood up to inform the congresswoman he was fully aware of the illegal federal government gun-trafficking program, known as Fast and Furious, which supplied weapons to Mexican drug cartels.  (video above)  This, like many of the pro-liberty, anti-tyranny speeches throughout the night, was well received.  Another patriot of We Are Change CT, Tevin, defended the second amendment, and posed thought-provoking statements, and questions, to Esty, that ultimately went unanswered. (video below)

Congresswoman Esty has been exploiting the tragedy in Newtown to push her anti-liberty agenda.  Recently, Esty likened the shooting in Newtown, to the events that took place on September 11, 2001, in hopes of using the emotional anguish evoked by the latter tragedy to pull on the heart strings of her constituents.  Esty even created gun-control Valentine cards, to give out to every member of Congress.  The congresswoman had home-made Valentine's Day cards, and teddy bears, delivered to all 435 House members and 100 senators. The T-shirts on the stuffed bears carried the message: “Protect children, not guns.’’

Elizabeth Esty, like most politicians, is a lawyer, and has degrees from both, Harvard, and Yale.  Judging from her wikipedia profile, she has worked in the public sector, sucking the blood of tax-payers, for the majority of her working life.  She was first a state representative, and then was elected last November to her current position of U.S. Representative.

Esty is "pro-choice", and volunteered at Planned Parenthood in her college years.  I can't get past the hypocrisy of this woman, who says she wants gun-control to protect the children, but supports, and volunteers her time at, an organization, Planned Parenthood, that murders 330,000 babies every year, through abortion.

Elizabeth Esty's husband, Daniel C. Esty, also graduated from Harvard, and Yale, as well as studied as a Rhodes Scholar at the University of Oxford.  Daniel C. Esty is the Commissioner of the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP).  In April 2011 Daniel Esty co-authored an op-ed for the New York Times entitled "Pain at the Pump. We need more". The article advocated higher carbon taxes so as to accelerate technological change.

Both Elizabeth Esty, and her husband, have come from elite, ivy league educational backgrounds, Dan Esty even being awarded a Rhodes scholarship.  Dan Esty also has ties to the Obama administration, as well as having pushed for carbon taxes in the past.  Congresswoman Esty, and her husband, seem to be just another couple of elite, control-freak, psychopaths, looking to get more power and control over the people.

(Sidenote:  Interestingly, after the Newtown shooting, Elizabeth Esty put out a document titled "Tragedy and Hope", and the conspiracy-oriented part of me couldn't help but think about the book "Tragedy and Hope" written by Historian Professor Carroll Quigley, which has attracted the attention of conspiracy theorists due to suggestions in numerous places in the book that a secret society known as the Round Table has had considerable influence of the policies of the British and American governments over the course of the first half of the twentieth century.  It is probably just coincidence that Esty used that title, but then again, her husband IS a Rhodes Scholar.)

Billionare Ted Turner Says He Thinks Its 'Good' That Troops Are Committing Suicide

When billionare Ted Turner was asked, on CNN by Piers Morgan, his thoughts on the vast number of suicides in the military, he said he thought it was 'good', and tried to justify his response. This may seem like a crazy response to a normal person, but if you have been following Ted Turner, this comes as no surprise.  (Sidenote: Also notice how at 0:48 in the video, Piers Morgan openly admits there is a "New World Order" at work.)

Ted Turner has been complaining that the world is "over populated" for some time now.  Ted Turner is the 2nd largest landowner in the United States, yet he believes there is not enough room for everyone!  Turner believes that billions of people need to be taken off of this planet, or else man-made global warming will kill us all.  He has called for a dramatic decrease in population, and a one-child policy for the world to adopt.  Keep in mind that this man has five children! Here is a short clip of an interview Ted Turner gave to Charlie Rose, where be briefly touches on his views of "depopulation".

The alternative media organization We Are Change confronted Ted Turner and asked him about his hypocricy of wanting a one-child policy for the world, but also having five children.  Turner didn't like that question.  Check out the video here:

Also, what should be mentioned about the recent interview given to Piers Morgan, Ted Turner calls for the United Nations to be the police of the world.  Ted Turner is a big United Nations supporter, and he even gave a $1 billion gift to the UN.  He is one of the many evil, rich, powerful men that are bringing us into a one world dictatorial government.
